30 Year Anniversary

In celebration f its 30th anniversary, Quadratec has built this one-off Jeep Wrangler concept that ties the modern character of the Jeep to the heritage of the famous YJ model of the '80s and '90s. The most prominent manufacturer of aftermarket Jeep parts, Quadratec started its journey with the aforementioned YJ generation of the Wrangler. They're calling this the YJL, which perfectly encapsulates the idea behind the concept build.

The Controversial Jeep

Since the introduction of the Wrangler nameplate, or the birth of Jeep for that matter, the only generation of the off-road icon that has had rectangular headlights. And although at the time, this styling feature was met with mixed reviews, to say the least. But as the years have gone one, the YJ has aged rather nicely, gaining acceptance and even a loyal following.

A Tribute

With the YJL concept, Quadratec is bringing that polarizing element to the newest generation of the Wrangler, in addition to a host of their top-of-the-line upgrades. The custom front fascia houses the reshaped headlights beautifully overlapping the outer-most grille slots. It almost feels like Quadratec is giving us a look into an alternative universe where the rectangular headlights were retained after the YJ.

Modern Performance, Classic Character

"It's very fulfilling to see a modern version of my father's Jeep, but with the spirit of the original. We shared so many great times in that YJ, and I even learned to drive in it. Back then, I could never have imagined we could create something today that not only takes me back to my youth, but showcases what we, and our valued partners, can do for our customers," remarked Ted Wentz III, speaking of the YJL's connection to his father's 1989 Sahara model.

Updates All Around

The retrofit isn't limited to the front, though. At the back, the simplistic look of the YJ has been closely replicated, which is impressive, given the vast differences between the JL and the classis Jeep. A massive collection of performance and off-roading upgrades are also in play, making the YJL concept as capable as it is cool to look at.

Off Road-Ready Interior

The interior also receives Quadratec's magic touch, with a smartphone-compatible nine-inch Alpine touchscreen, Corbeau front seats, and all-weather floor liners. The aftermarket manufacturer stated that this will remain a one-off build, and the YJ-style front fascia will not be mass-produced.
