Modern Retro Goodness

It wasn't all that long ago that the Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler was on top of the world. Quite a few celebrities owned and drove one, including former president Ronald Reagan. But finding a solid Scrambler today is a bit of a chore. Regardless, if you've got the means, a men's outdoor clothing manufacturer called Ball and Buck is currently building and selling some pretty killer Scramblers - for a price.

Ravaging Restomod

Taking vintage vehicles and giving them modern touches is a red hot practice these days, and classic Jeeps make great candidates for this treatment. Give Ball and Buck a Scrambler, $65,000 to $106,000, and three to six months, and you can have one of these amazing restomods. Deposits will run you $1,776, because America. And you get a whole host of cool options with it.

Array of Options

You get to choose the color and trim, of course, with exterior options including Sutton Black, Chesapeake Gray, Everglades Green, and Coronado Sand. Engine choices include a 2.8-liter Cummins turbodiesel, a 4.2-liter inline-six, or a rip-roaring  6.0-liter LS3 V8. And polished stainless or matte-black trim provides a perfect contrast, no matter which way you go.

Fully Outfitted

Ball and Buck go through each special Scrambler with a fine-tooth comb, restoring or replacing every single component. That includes underneath, where you'll find a full ARB Old Man Emu suspension with a YJ Springs 2” lift. There's also a Detroit Trutrac limited-slip differential, along with part-time 4wd, lockable manual free-wheeling front hubs, and a 2-speed part-time transfer case with a 2.62 low range gear reduction.

Bespoke Interior

The inside is quite bespoke as well. Highlights here include Ball and Buck Signature Canvas and Original Camo materials, a host of leather accents, and hand knurled brass shift knobs and heater controls. There's also a modern heating and air conditioning system, along with a Tuffy security glovebox and console with an integrated Ball and Buck gun case for those long hunting trips.

Modern Touches

A host of modern touches are also added to bring this old Jeep up to date, including LED lighting, GPS-enabled electronic instruments, all-new wiring, heavy-duty stainless steel bumpers, a custom roll bar, Alpine and Polk stereo system, and Kentrol stainless hardware. The Scrambler rolls on American Racing Aluminum Baja wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich rubber.

Enticing Offering

For those who love the old Scrambler, this updated version sure seems like an enticing offering. If you've got the means, that is. But if you do, the prospect of a turnkey, modernized version of one of our favorite Jeeps of all time seems too good to resist.
