Wranglers ready to get the job done

If the Jeep Wrangler platform works so tremendously well as a 4x4, why not add another axle and make it even better? That is exactly the logic that underpins the SloFlo 6x6 conversion. Realizing that customer interest was sufficient, the Fort Lauderdale aftermarket vehicle specialist set about perfecting its 6x6 reconfiguration of Jeep’s icon.

No doors or excuses

Subtlety is not a keyword of the SloFlo design methodology. The company has opted for a most elaborate 6x6 vehicle design, in the guise of its stretched Wrangler Gladiators. The technical model name is SF6X6G, which is easy enough to decipher: as a very special long-wheelbase Wrangler pick-up.

Loads of rear-view mirror presence

The front styling is dominated by a new single-frame grille, which is a world different from Jeep’s traditional vertical slots. The reshaped front features set-back headlamps and a single structure bumper combination, which is crafted from steel. This gives the SF6X6 much better off-road terrain strike survivability. It also looks a lot more intimidating and gives the winch a secure mounting point.

It is also good at all the pick-up truck stuff

At the rear, there is a new bumper section, also shaped from steel. This allows for a heavy-duty tow hitch to be mounted. The load bed is covered with an epoxy bedliner, which is both scratch-resistant and very easy to clean.

A lot more than a simple nip-and-tuck

The bodywork is a selection of custom molds, which ensures that a SloFlo Jeep won’t look like anything else. This is because SloFlo uses their own propriety design parts, instead of buying and fitting, from a supplier. The platform is also cut and lengthened to accommodate its six wheels and a roomy cab section, without reducing the load practicality.

GM power? In a Jeep?

Powering the SG6X6G is not a Chrysler engine, but something from GM. Customers can choose the LS3 V8, in a relatively mild state of tune. That gives it a great sound signature and adequate low-speed engine torque, for off-roading. But it also has enough linear engine power, due to its naturally-aspirated configuration, to enable great highway cruising performance.

If you like seeing your Jeep's suspension work, well...

Massive wheels and reshaped fenders allow for those six huge tires to roll along, increasing the Jeep’s ride height and giving it a very confident stance. Off-road, those massive tires boost traction and improve ride quality too. Owners have a choice of two tread patterns, for those who desire slightly reduced road noise levels.

The ability to climb up-and-over nearly any terrain

The great advantage of a 6x6 configuration is the enormous increase in traction that an additional axle and two extra rubber contact patches provide. As such, the SloFlo Jeep is a true 6x6 with a proper middle axle that is fully functional, instead of something which creates parasitic drag. Both rear differentials can also be locked, if you require increased traction in a straight line, to clear a specifically challenging obstacle. Wheel articulation is outstanding, with 14-inches of travel at each axle.
