1. Just how Grand is it?

The Grand Canyon sits in Arizona and it measures 277 miles long, 18 miles wide, and over a mile deep. Geologists estimate the Grand Canyon's age to be approximately six million years old, and it was formed very slowly by the Colorado River cutting through layers of rock.

2. The Scenery

Off-roading the Grand Canyon means you get to drive through a prehistoric landscape, and the scenery does not disappoint. With a speed limit of 25 mph on most of the trails, expect a slow, steady drive, but you may need to go even slower to take in all of there is to see. All around you will be desert plants, multi-colored canyon walls, cacti, sheer cliffs, water falls, and views that go on seemingly forever.

3. Different Terrain

Since much of the Grand Canyon is nearly untouched, and unimproved, you need to deal with the natural variation of the terrain as you go. Some parts are wide paths layered with gravel, other parts can get more rugged with rough, sharp volcanic rocks, and still others are more forested. As you go through the different areas, you will be able to experience various types of off-roading, and the adrenaline will remain pumping throughout, from the soft sand in the Grand Wash, to the narrow technical paths along the Colorado River.
