Driver Passenger

A challenging rise on a rocky trail in Moab, Utah, is being conquered by a pair of 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid SUVs. What makes this scene peculiar is that the individuals occupying the front seats of both vehicles are not touching the pedals or the steering wheel. Jeep Brand Chief Executive Officer Christian Meunier explains that just as their 4xe electrification elevates the off-road capability of the Jeep brand, their advanced off-road driving systems aim to enable more customers worldwide to join and relish the adventure.

Making It Easy For People

While many automakers focus on developing autonomous cars for navigating busy city streets and traffic jams, Jeep has set its sights on creating a driverless vehicle for wilderness exploration. This notion may seem improbable since off-road driving is a beloved hobby for millions of Americans who revel in the excitement of conquering sand dunes, traversing streams, and maneuvering through treacherous rocky turns. Nonetheless, Jeep believes that autonomous off-road systems could assist newcomers and help experienced off-roaders escape challenging situations.

Off Road and On Road

Jeep states that the AI and autonomous off-road driving technology, installed in two electrified Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe models, will not only enhance the experiences of seasoned off-roaders but also cater to customers who are new to trail driving. Furthermore, the company suggests that this technology could potentially be suitable for everyday driving conditions on regular roads.

Adventuring With Confidence

It's tough to imagine off-road enthusiasts being willing to relinquish control and simply ride through the wilderness. But having the possibility to engage their autonomous driving system gives adventurers the confidence to take on any terrain knowing they can rely on their vehicle to help them out when needed.

Details to Come

More details regarding Jeep's advanced autonomous off-road driving technology will be revealed this summer. The company plans to release a video showcasing the future generation of this technology within the next few months.
