2022 Jeep Wrangler Willys Xtreme Recon Package Is a Better Bargain

Earlier this year, Jeep began offering its new Xtreme Recon Package on Rubicon and Rubicon 392 variants of its iconic Wrangler. The enhanced off-road package has quickly proven to be incredibly popular among fans, which has prompted the automaker to begin offering it on the more affordable Willys.

Big Rubber

The Wrangler Willys Xtreme Recon Package officially debuts for the 2022 model year and adds a host of welcome equipment to the lower Wrangler trim. This includes a set of 35-inch BFGoodrich K02 all-terrain wrapped around Beadlock capable wheels measuring 17x8 inches, for starters.

Other Enhancements

Other enhancements include a 1.5-inch suspension lift to help clear those big tires, 4.56:1 gears in both axles to help get the Wrangler rolling, retuned dampers, upgraded brakes, and a reinforced swing gate to help handle the extra weight added by the bigger spare tire out back.

Best in Class

Jeep says that these modifications give the Wrangler Willys Xtreme Recon Package a best-in-class approach angle of 47.4 degrees, departure angle of 40.4 degrees, a ground clearance of 12.9 inches, and 33.6 inches of water fording capability, beating out the Wrangler's main rival, the Ford Bronco equipped with the Sasquatch Package.

Bargain Play

Adding the Xtreme Recon Package to the 2022 Jeep Willys Wrangler costs an additional $3,995 on top of the model's base MSRP of $40,930, which is at least $3,000 less than the Rubicon, making it a solid bargain play. Ordering for the new model begins this month, with production expected to begin in December.
