Power of Three

Almost since its inception, the Jeep Wrangler has been offered in a variety of special editions. These unique offerings are obviously popular among enthusiasts as well as profitable for Fiat-Chrysler. So it's no surprise that 2020 brings not one, but three new special JL Wranglers for buyers to choose from.

Return of the Willys

First up - the much-beloved Willys Edition. Based on the Sport S but closer to the Rubicon in capability, the new Willys features a limited-slip rear differential, Rubicon rock rails and shocks, heavy-duty brakes, and 32-inch Firestone mud-terrain tires.

Rugged Looks

Exterior features include a Willys hood decal, unique black 17-inch aluminum wheels with gray pad print, a gloss black sport grille, all-weather slush mats, and LED headlights and fog lights. The Wrangler Willys edition is available in 10 colors: Black, Granite Crystal, Sting Gray, Billet, Ocean Blue, Firecracker Red, Punk’n, Hellayella, Mojito! and White. Prices start at $33,740 for the two-door model and $37,240 for the four-door version.

Black & Tan

Next up is the Wrangler Black & Tan, which is all-new for 2020. On the outside, this model features 17-inch Machine Granite wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, side steps, Low Gloss badging, and a premium tan soft top.

Inside and Out

On the inside, that theme continues with a Wizard Black painted instrument panel mid bolster and Heritage Tan cloth seats. The Technology Group, featuring Uconnect’s 7-inch radio, a 7-inch driver’s display screen, and dual-zone climate control, is standard. The Wrangler Black & Tan starts out at $32,940 for the two-door model and $36,440 for the four-door version.

Freedom Rings

Rounding out this cool trio of special editions is the Wrangler Freedom, which adds a variety of military-themed accents inside and out. Jeep hasn't released any more specific details or pricing for this particular model just yet, however.

Upgraded Powertrains

Aside from these new special edition models, the 2020 Wrangler also features a host of upgrades. That includes the powertrain options, of course. Wrangler Sport and Rubicon models now offer a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with ESS. The 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine with mild-hybrid eTorque technology is now exclusively available in Wrangler Sahara models.

Diesel Power

The most exciting powertrain news, however, is the availability of a new diesel option. In response to overwhelming consumer demand, a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 with ESS will be available later in 2020 on Sport, Rubicon, and Sahara models.

Remaining Changes

In addition, Wrangler’s Advanced Safety Group now includes auto high beams when equipped with the
8.4-inch Uconnect system with navigation. For 2020, the Wrangler Sport also offers LED headlamps and fog lamps as optional equipment.

Buffet of Options

All of these subtle changes and additions only help strengthen the Wrangler lineup for 2020. And having more options and features is never a bad thing, now is it?
