After cutting down the hardtop, and installing one of the rear seats, we are in the process of altering the top to fit.

The original plan was to keep the rear section of the hard top as short as possible. Well, as you can see, there needs to be enough clearance for the rear seats.

The hard top will be set back slightly to accommodate the rear seat. Here's what it looks like right now.

A vehicle with a three to four foot bed is not a truck.

That's just an unlimited with the hard top squashed up against the rear seat.

Looks like a junior h2

Not sure if this makes sense, but how difficult would it be to use an extra set of the front fulllsize doors in the rear? Would that give you the extra coverage past the rear seats? I guess either way you would still have to modify the top significantly. Sorry, just thinking out loud.

Anyway, great build! I love to see people dream up something new and different and attack it head on.

It looks a lot cooler than any H1 or 2 or 3... and you can have the hard top and still count on that open bed. And, best of all, to build it that way is much more fun than just doing the engine swap.

I love this build... can you ship it to the dominican republic when you're done guys? i'll take good care of her and even send you my JKU if you want to repeat the build just so you can make sure you did memorize every step!

Whats gonna happen with the little railing outside the 'bed' of the JK (where the softtop snaps in) and the difference with the piece you just welded in? are you gonna leave that difference or are you gonna make it look seamless?
AND... i guess you gonna have to build the "wall" below the hard top behind the seats, right?

What a shame.
I think you have got it very wrong my friend. I think this concept would sell very well.

I can see where he is going with this.

Just a suggestion, you may be able to hindge the rear "wall" and be able to still fold down the "wall" and the seats to make a full bed.

So almost like a door with a latch and a weather seal, you can fold down the back and the back seats and have a 8-9 ft bed? would be pretty cool for carrying shit.

even if you cant incorporate that into the plan i still like it a lot, not only for the body build the thought into the engine is very cool.

That sounds pretty cool... You can still have swing rear window for flat long stuff... Or remove the top for the full bed.
