with the bc jeep club going in on friday we probably wont be doing much deadfall movement/removal. although one saw would be nice. i know sam and jeepjq both have saws that they packed for the snow run a week back.

I always pack a presto-log and an axe to guarantee a camp fire.

My thinking if someone else is going ahead, most of the blowdown should be removed off the road...but you never know. If required I have a Stihl as well that I got back up and running with a new 20" bar and chain.

Firewood I am sure as we get closer to camp we can find a dead snag, fall and buck up.

Wow... Not that I haven't done it but not exactly a show of your mountaineering prowess

Ya I have no problem packing a saw with us for the "just in case" or the "what ifs". As for our snow pack, I cant see it being an issue in July but I do for see a lot of water/mud. There's been nothing but rain here. I think our environment is turning into a rain Forrest here.

True, but it's a nice convenience to have a guaranteed campfire within a minute when it has been raining for a week straight and everything is wet. I use the Presto-Log to start the fire if all the wood in the area seems wet. The Presto burns for about 3-4 hours and in that time any of the wet wood will have dried and started to burn. If it hasn't been raing for weeks and there is dry wood to be found then the Presto-Log doesn't get used.

The main thing being that I want to have a fire burning so I can get to drinking my beer.

I actually have that week off and am seriously considering heading down for this. How will a relatively stock Sahara Unlimited make out on this trail?
