July whipsaw run
#111
snorkel 100%... i do have diff covers on order ....but they are for a different trip . i plan to open and drain my diffs AFTER whipsaw. your in for more of a water/mud fest this time of year on the whipsaw. there is only a few spots that require 4Lo and involve rocks. you should also extended your rear diff breather tube before this run.
Grant...AEV snorkel is being shipped out today from northridge Now I need some major ballz to cut my hood...
Also, Extending breather tubes will be on my list before this July Whipsaw trip. Question, did you extend your Transfer Case and Manual Tranny Breather Tubes??? Where the heck are these located??? are they easy to get at? Did you use all new 5/16" Fuel line hose for the job or use check valves and splice into the stock lines? I know I will extend my Front Diff up into the engine compartment and thinking about extending the rear diff tube in behind the rear light unless you got a better suggestion??

i have not extended anything yet if you can believe it or not. i do plan to extend my rear diff breather before this run in a few weeks. i know rubisteve has extended his rear breather so he can chime in about what fuel line size he went with. i have not located the manual tranny or transfer case breathers...but i havent look that hard. in my opinion the rear breather is the easiest and probably most important to extend. howd the snorkel install go ??

Also, my electric dremel took forever and kept on breaking blades... Should have gotten a cutting blade for my Grinder it would have gone much faster. Oh well live and learn. The cut is a little rough in my eyes but people think it looks good and the nice black trim piece covers it anyways. I just need to touch up the paint a little better along the cut edge to prevent rust from happening.
Also, my stock box is not sitting very good, it seems it does not want to really clamp down into the holes with the rubber plugs. I thought it was my wires bunching up under snorkel where it enters the box that was causing this.but it was not. I will have to adjust it when I have time..but it does sit snug and does not move. I will figure out something. I f I can't get it to sit right I may just drill a bolt in the bottom and sealing it with silicone to ensure it won't move!
Other than my wife just freaking:nut s: at the site of me cutting a +$30K Jeep it went well. It would have gone much better with a faster or better cutting tool! I am happy that the airbox is sealed and don't really need to worry about sucking in water when I do have water crossings.
I will post some pictures later in the weekend. Also, later this week I will be doing my breathers especially my front and rear diffs. I think I was told it's 5/16" fuel line that will work. Also, found out no Air Breather for the Manual Transmission...suppose to be an internal breather.
I need to get ready for a Jeep adventure with the family going down around Nakusp/Silverton/Kaslo area today....some much needed Family time for hiking and exploring! Have a good weekend!
