Nothing you can do about it now but in future you may want to put blue painter tape on the door. It’s cheap and it will prevent this from happening to you again.

and for me the doors are heavy and I am vertically challenged so have to park next to the curb at my apt to even get them on!!! 
Yeah yeah don't laugh too hard. Only reason I put them on is because of the bad part of town I work in

I use a handy vinyl magnet the Harley sent me a few years ago. Stick it on and no contact between tools and paint. Then I stick it on my toolbox for the next time.
