Default WTF is a clockspring!?

So I took La Negra (my jeeps name) to the dealer to get the clockspring replaced. Apparently it caused the brakes to engage while driving and all the dash lights come on and why the horn and wipers go all crazy. Hopefully this will fix it because it is very and annoying and dangerous. Has any body else have this problem and or replace this clockspring thing?

The clockspring is an electrical component in line with the steering column to allow wiring to be ran up to the steering wheel.

Think of it as an electrical connector. Except inside it is able to rotate, with extra loops of wiring so it can rotate with the steering wheel, giving the customer features on wheel such as airbag, cruise control, and radio features on some vehicles.

? I have an 07. So maybe the recall does not apply to me? I never got any notices or recalls ever.

I had to replace one on a f150 I used to have. It's pretty easy if you ever have to do it yourself.

Well I just got my jeep back after they installed a new clockspring. They said that is was a defect and that is was interfering the signal to the ABS module and all other electrical components.
So hopefully this will fix it. It was still under warranty so that's cool.
