Wonder if these rock rails are any more sturdy that the Rubicon's included ones?

Rock Rails with tubular rub rails

Kinda looks like they would be almost a small side step by the picture.

Hard to say for sure until I can get a close look at a set but at a glance and on the internet, yeah, I'd be willing to say they are sturdier. But then, I'd be willing to bet you could find even better from the aftermarket industry

true about the aftermarket, it was just that they look nice, at least in the picture.

I think the PUREJEEP Rock Sliders that were shown at SEMA look great, and are very similar in style to the Mopar ones (but perhaps more sturdy?). Not sure when they'll be available, but you can see a pic of them on the ORE rig here:

I'm hoping to replace the side-steps that came with my Sahara with them eventually.

I should point out that these rock rails are the same ones Off Road Evolution has on their JK and protected them through this...

Still hard to believe a non-locked and only lifted JK made it up that. Very impressive.

I saw those Evo guys working a tough climb at Johnson Valley a few weeks ago with a stretched TJ. If they were hitting this ledge as hard with the JK , I'd believe they made it. Good stuff.

As a doubting Thomas, I find it hard to believe they made it up that ledge without using a winch or tow strap. I'd need to see the video to believe it...
