Why V6???

My brother trashes JK's all the time. It's annoying because I don't really step on his toes. He thinks CJs YJs and TJs were real Jeeps and JK's are "not real Jeeps". He had a TJ rubicon for like a year and a half, and drives a chevy colorado now.

My Brother used to run his mouth, of course I DID punch him in the nose one time. I thought my Mom was going to kill me. By no means am I saying you should do that though.
Oh well, it makes me think of a line from Back to the future 3,- "Just hot air from a buffoon."

There is very little differencebin when the 4l and 3.8l get their power. Go google it for a dyno if you do not believe it.

Yeah as jeansbro said, gearing has a lot to do with the perception that the JK is underpowered.
The 3.21s that come standard with the 6-speed and the 3.73s that come with the auto are quite tall and though they give decent fuel economy can feel sluggish during acceleration and stop-start city driving. The 4.10s that come with the Rubis make the JK feel more alive.
In reality the V6 produces more power and torque but due to the nature of the V6 design produces this at slightly higher RPMs, so the I6 (with the TJs lower gearing) gives the illusion of being more powerful in the lighter TJ. The I6 was also known as a gas guzzler; you won't hear any TJ owners (apart from maybe the 4-cyl drivers) saying that the I6 was more fuel efficient either.

That is not correct. Straight from Jeep.com website for the 2011 Wrangler with the V-6 engine:

237 lb-ft torque @ 4000 RPM

Edit: I figured it out, the numbers I quoted were for the minivan 3.8L. It is tuned differently than in our JKs.
