So, is running at 3000-3500 rpm doing 75-80 mph in 6th gear ok for the engine and/or transmission? I'm driving from ky to fl, so it will be for an extended period of time. I hate to sound so paranoid, but I don't want to do any long term damage. Plus, I'm just an idiot when it comes to gears and ratios and how that plays into engines

Well that makes sense as to why I though this was the case. I was only looking at manuals

80 mph should only be about 2900rpm even with 4.10 gears. Yeah, it'll be ok.. Pentastar is a beast and is a high revving engine anyway.

I was under that assumption too when I bought my 2013. Sadly, mine has 3.73 gr. A local dealer screwed up my order, and I waited for a Jeep I didn't want. Ended up driving to Dallas area to find a Rubi with a stick. I live just outside Baton Rouge. Can't find a lot of manuals on lots either. I don't mind my gearing now because I'm still wearing out stock 32" rubber, but when I replace my tires and go bigger it might be a problem.

Famous last words LOL... On a serious note. To the OP, if you plan on installing bigger tires later, the stock gearing will be less relevant. As I understand it, for 35" tires the optimum gearing is 4.88, (at least with the 3.8L) so if you plan on getting bigger tires and the Jeep comes with 3.73, use that as a negotiation point in your favor instead of waiting to find one with 4.10 that you may end up replacing anyway. By the way, I did not realize all of the manual transmission came with 4.10 standard.

He's looking at a 2014, so it would have the 3.6l. With the Pentastar, 4.10s are pretty manageable for 35s, from what many have said.

It doesn't require as steep of gearing as the 3.8l.

Government regulation. Comes down to increasing the CAFE for Jeep. You will likely not find any that were not special ordered with 4.10 gearing.

It took me forever to track mine down with 4.10's. The hardest part was trying to find one without the painted top and fenders. I was a day away from ordering one, and this luckily popped up.

Don't quote me...but I think the remote start option includes 4.10's. It was a $495 option.

My 2014 JKUR has 4.10's and no remote start, manual tran. After hearing about everyone's struggles finding exactly what they wanted, I feel blessed to have such a great dealer in my town. They normally have 40-50 wranglers in stock to choose from, even ones for 50k+ decked out with AEV stuff. I was fortunate enough to walk right onto the lot and get exactly what I wanted. 👍

On the '14 Rubicon Unlimited that I bought, site unseen as it was still in transit, the 4.10 was a $295 option. It's an automatic, btw.
