What size lift
#11
Dude if your getting stuck it probably isn't a lift issue. It's probably the driver trying to do too much behind the wheel. #poordriverinstinct. It's easy to blame it on the lift when you don't know how to wheel cleverly.
For example, I'm pretty sure even with a 10" lift, a jk won't cross the Atlantic!! Sure you'll be good for the first 10 yards of beach shore and then get stuck like a dumba%. So my point, like I tried to advice before is, Get a lift that suits your needs. The OP wants to fit 33s so in reality he doesn't "need" a lift which is what I was advising. Thanks for your input I'm sure it was completely inspiring to everyone who drives a hummer and doubts the capability of a wrangler.
And a jeep doesn't take a beating? Lol dude go drive a Prius and I'll personally show you what a jeep can do. (As one of our forum member clearly showed) (didn't think I would be using his accident to show a point but I'm sure most of us disagree on your claim of weakly constructed jeeps). They may be a lot of things but a jk is a WALL compared to lots of cars.

Go ahead and ask him what happened to his jk

Dont know why your so mad at Maertz but wow step back and calm down. I challenge you to come to our trails which are not the Rockies or Moab with a stock jeep jku with 33's. You'll never make it. And a stock jk woulda been smashed in the prius accident without bumper. The skids are pos on jeeps and the breakover angle on a jku is horrible.
That only goes back to what I'm trying to get to Maertz too. Why would anyone attempt a obstacle that they aren't equipped to succeed? I.e if you know a jku doesn't have a good breakover angle so why would you go over a ridiculous hill with no lift or big tires knowing your individual limitations?? Only answer, Poor driver instinct or ignorance.(which btw the OP has a 2door why are we talking about a 4door jku??) But doesn't matter now, I'm honestly not trying to start anything with anyone here, just trying to make sense of my individual suggestion to the OP based on his wants. Y'll think what you want. We're all individuals here, the OP made his decision based on what he wants.

I'm not getting upset? I'm trying to open up the idea to the OP that a lift isn't required for the set up he wants. Lol why is there so much confusion??

I never said they are out of the factory tuff...I said they are BUIlT to take a beating. Don't assume things man, just ask. Don't let your ego read things that aren't in the message.
Also let me point out the OP never said he was off-roading..which is why I ASKED him "what kind of off-roading he did" to give him a better input to his question in the case that he wants to wheel hard. So I really don't know where you got that he is trying to drive to new Mexico from FL to see you and wheel your trails?? He isn't asking what he needs to wheel on your trails so why are you giving him all this extra irrelevant information when all his main question "what lift he needs to get to fit 33' tires." This whole conversation has become irrelevant. Lol.
Go home and start an argument with your dog bro, not here, the OP doesn't care about the trails in New Mexico or the irreverence of this conversation. His simply here to get a suggestions to answer his question of "what lift do I get for 33' tires"

Sorry for all this irrelevance OP. Good luck brother

You dont need to get me anywhere, I have seen plenty to have a decent opinion. Your post made it seem like jeeps are built very tuff from the factory, not from my experience...Also wheeled with many stock jks and seen them get hung up on many things that no matter how they would have taken them, they would have gotten stuck, mind you these are not always rediculous crazy obstacles like you made it seem. Sure they can go a long ways stock, but on the trails here theres not always a bypass. If he does plan to offroad, why not get a lift? This lcog concept everyone feels you need to have if you offroad is complete bs in my opinion. I brought up 4 doors incase someone else looked at this down the road when having a similar question, sorry it pushed the angry button you seem to have. Regardless of the 2 door or 4 door the wheelbase can be a limiting factor in offroading.

I have a 2" lift and 33s, and I'm almost disappointed with the look and performance. They are Mickey Thompson Baja MTs, so they're very good tires, and they look great from certain angles. However, from the deadly side profile angle, they don't look any bigger than stock. Plus off road, I sometimes have trouble getting over fallen logs because I don't have that extra body clearance that you get with 35s. I'd say go 2" lift, 35" tires.
