You need to take it down to at least 15psi.

Yeah, get down to at least 15... if not even lower. Also, make sure you're in 4-high and not 4-low.

how slow are you going?

i go to the outer banks every year, We air down the stock vehicle to about 12, and they run 4 hi.

4lo is way to slow.

I didnt need to air down at all in the JK.

++ 12 to 15,, first time in a Jeep (my old YJ) someone told me that but I didn't think it was right so I only dropped my tires to around 24psi and got stuck in the sand right away.. I dug all the sand from under the low points and lowered the tires to 15psi and just walked right out.. That was with the YJ's stock 215 tires too. We drove all around the beach at Hatteras NC all day. What was real nice was the local gas station just off the beach back then would leave their air pump on all night so all the 4x4s could air back up on their way out.

Used to drive my '78 SJ with 10 psi on Nauset Beach on Cape Cod and never bogged or slipped at all. I didn't have on board air back in the day so had to get right to a gas station afterwards.

Another vote for around 15PSI. Ran Medano Pass this summer (Great Sand Dunes, CO) and didn't have a single problem with the stock tires at that PSI.

Also make sure you turn off your ESP.
