Default What is this part?

Plastic-looking cannister about 1 ft X 10" X 6", a couple of hoses going in/out, left of the gas tank, behind the transfer case. Looks very vulnerable. Seems to be connected to the gas tank, like a charcoal cannister, but it's way too far from the engine for a vacuum line. What is it, what happens if it "falls off"?

It is the charcoal/evap canister. If it falls off you're SOL. There are relocation kits and skids available.

well you can remove it may effect idle
it will throw and engine code.
it will also provide u a way to surely fail all emission tests.
If caught with out you could face charges for not having it
you will smell fumes of gasoline
u will be polluting the environment with unburned hydrocarbon fumes
you will make the native American elder cry
you will void ur engine warranty.
Lots of reasons to not remove
Just buy a relocation kit and be happy.

PM Woods, I just got a kit from him. It looks like a nice setup. I should get it installed next weekend.
