Xray- is your JK a 3.8? If so, have you changed out you PCV valve? They're know to stick and cause consumption on 3.8s.

I have not. In the reading ive done I never saw anything about the pcv valve. I will order one today

2008 JKU with 91k miles on it. I use Valvoline max life 10w30 and a Bosch filter. Had the pcv valve done 6k ago. Oil burning has stopped.

I use Pennzoil Platinum every 6 months which is about 5K miles. Easy intervals to remember in winter and summer.

Just ordered a new pcv valve and will do an oil change once it shows up. Thinking 10w30 gtx high mileage with mobil 1 filter ( its the deal at auto store).

i was running M1 syn 5w-20/Bosch DistancePlus in my 2010 Sahara. just hit 35,700 mi. & my last oil was change on 4/12 @ 32,400 mi. the oil indicator came on a few days ago so i checked the dipstick & it was almost dry. i was so dumbfounded. got to reading about the 3.8l oil consumption issue so i switched to Valvoline conv 5w-30/Purolator filter today. i hope to see a difference. buying syn for an engine that consumes so much oil is not something i want my wallet to deal with.

it already drives a bit smoother & sounds quieter, but maybe it's all in my head. might look into changing this PCV deal i keep reading about. also thinking of trying out some 10w-30 next time since i live in TX now.
