If you just use the drain and fill plugs and don't pull the covers, it's just the $ of the lube. They're NPT plugs, so that's it. And if you pull the covers you'll only be out some RTV, no gasket there.

BTW, I just use GL-5 rated 80w-90 dino lube, as per OEM specification. I really don't believe I'll leave it in long enough to reap any benefit from anything more fancy.

Most standard oils require the additive for the LSD. One of the nice things of the Royal Purple (I -think- but am not sure that Mobil 1 is the same) is that LSD additives are already in there. So it is just a matter of draining out the old oil and pouring in the new stuff

You can't go wrong with any lubrication fluid that meets the spec.
With that said I'm a believer in synthetics so at 15K miles, I chose Amsoil 75/140 for the rear. Only because I tow our jetboat every summer. For the front it was Amsoil 70/90.
By the way I do believe you can get Mobil 1 with the additive already in the formula. As a matter of fact seems I saw quite a few synthetics with the LSD additive already incorperated. A bit more expensive than the regular though.

Changed to Mobil 1 75W-90 LS gear oil @ 10k miles. It does not require the addition of a limited slip additive package.

Yes, unless you tow then you will want 75W-90 in the front and 75W-140 in the rear.

just finished changing mine tonight - went with Mobil 1 in both the front and the rear. Did an oil change as well - the differentials were almost as easy thanks to all the advice on this forum!

Quick Reply: What oil do you recommend for the differential?
