What is this, and is it important? *PIC*
I've got a faint squeak coming from my rear axle. I traced it to the driver's wheel. If you push on the wheel (lateral pressure), it squeaks a bit.
I took the wheel off and discovered that some sort of flanged spacer is missing on one of the lug posts. See below. Can anyone tell me what this is? Is it important, and could the lack of it be causing the squeak?
Thanks in advance.

Those are locking rings that should be removed the first time you take off the wheels (or so I heard). I removed all of mine before I installed my spidertrax spacers.
Let's wait till someone chimes in who knows for sure. 2 of my wheels had all 5 and 2 had one missing. I dont think that would cause a squeaking sound.

Yup, they hold the rotor on during assembly at the factory. Usually when people switch to aftermarket wheels they remove them to ensure the wheel mounts flush against the rotor surface.

yup, take em off, if squeak goes away, yes that was you r problem. i highly doubt that that is your problem though. make sure your brakes aren't worn out then try some brake stop-squeak on the BACK side of the pads. i had a squeak and thats what fixed it.

If you have aftermarket wheels this will cause them to not seat against the rotor properly. Take them off, they are only to hold the caliper on while it is going down the assembly line.
This will not cause any movement on your wheel.
