What if you had better gas milage?

Now I'm curious enough to go see this on my jeep. Interesting concept.
So Just so I have this straight, 50 MPH, slight downhill, TCC locked, I let my foot off the gas, the TCC stays locked, the PW drops to 0.0, and the trans will downshift. What about the ignition, I'd imagine it stays alive, just to avoid a build up of fuel if there is a leaky injector.
I can't say I've ever paid that much attention on newer cars, they're usually not in for a driveability complaint that would warrant such an investigation.
How did you find out about this, flip?
Now I really want to go watch this.
And what if you tap the brakes, does the TCC unlock and the fuel come back to life?
And what if you do like the OP says and slip it into neutral? Does it come back on then?

youd be suprised. ive really seen alot of improvement in the jeep driven it this way. The ESP freaks out, but i got a button to turn it all the way off.

I think I may have confused you. On let's say most Big 3 cars made from 2000-2009 when you are coasting in OD above a certain mph, let's say 50, the TCC is locked and the fuel shuts off. When you reach a speed let's say below 50, or touch the brakes the TCC unlocks and fuel is on again. This usually only works in OD as far as I know.
But for some cars/trucks made/redesigned in the last two years they seem have gotten very aggressive and will keep the TCC locked longer and even allow the trans to downshift with the fuel off so your coasting doesn't take the revs below something like 1500. Basically allowing the fuel shutoff to work in city driving.
Of course the fuel does come on if you shift to neutral. And I'm not sure if JK's with a stick are so equipped. You can google auto fuel shut off for more info. GM will boast it as a feature on some if it's models. We are about one year away from auto stop-start. Ford says it's gonna be an option on 2012's.

I'll have to go check this out. 15 years in the industry repairing cars, and I didn't realize that they were doing this now. I also want to check on the TCC system, to see if they somehow made them better. Repairing and replacing GM transmissions for the crappy TCC apply circuits in the past makes me a little concerned about them using them more and longer.
I'm also curious how this works with the modulated TCC's too. I'm going to go google it.

Wow you noticed that, What gave you the clue it was a Jeep. The big chrome letters. Or was it the letters on the steering wheel? or maybe did yours come with the tire cover that says JEEP? 
I really dont know how you could have found out it's a jeep.We all know we own a JEEP. We know gas mileage is not a strong point. But one reason for this board is for people to make more out of there's. So you say we might be driving the wrong vehicle. I say being a TOOL is a strong suit for you. An you need to not butt in.
