What does the air dam do?
#24
I took mine off once - it most definitely caused hood flutter...
...oh and it also caused death wobble, made my tires wear unevenly, made my soft-top flutter, made my automatic overheat, made my Jeep catch on fire, caused my D30 to bend, made my tank spew gas when filling up, made my doors rattle, made my Jeep click sometimes when starting, caused my rod bearings to fail, decreased my MPG, blew both my headgaskets, cracked an exhaust manifold (just the LH one), made the linkage fail so I couldn't get into 4WD, made water flow into my air box so the engine hydro-locked, made the freedom top panels leak, broke my clock-spring, wore out my balljoints, cracked my trackbar bracket and gave me a nasty rash.
I put it back on
Since I put it back on, all of the above is no longer a problem (except for the rash - I'm a little worried about that).

My issue isn't really with the air dam so pardon my hijack... I am considering cutting off the sheet metal cross member that it attaches to. It is so weak that there's no way it is structural and I keep dragging it over shelfs and steps ups in the rocks..removing it would greatly improve my approach angle.Has anyone else here done this?

Otherwise, you'll just hit something else that you may not want to hit.
