I hope this isn't a stupid question but I'll ask anyway. What is this and how do you remove it.

I'm pretty sure that it is part of the PCV system. Not sure how you remove it. Mine has a slight oil residue around it...

Why do you want to remove it??

The circled item in the photo is the tube that connects the EGR valve to the intake manifold.

What does it do and how does it work. I'm assuming it recirculates exhaust gasses to be re burned? I'm wondering if this has something to do with my poor idle issue? Is there some sort of ball valve in there?

A google search will bring you to a good explanation of the function of the EGR system. Try this
ht tp://autorepair.about.com/od/glossary/gr/def_egr-valve.htm
Remove the space in the http portion of the link.

You must still be under warranty. Take it to the dealer. Don't just start taking things apart.

I am I just want to try and diagnose it first. Its not throwing a code and I don't want to hear them say "can't replicate". I'll be cleaning the throttle body first then see how that goes. I'm using 3M™ Do-It-Yourself Fuel System Tune-Up Kit, 8963.
