Default Weird stringy black goo

So earlier this summer I noticed some weird stringy looking black goo on the post between my windshield and driver's side door. It was at the top right near the hordtop. It kind of looks and feels like tar. I cleaned it off once but then it came back. Any ideas on what it is. Where it's coming from, or how to correct it?

Thanks. I found that after I posted. I had searched "tar" and couldn't find it, but then I did when I searched "goo"

Yep that's it exactly. Now I just have to go to the dealer.

I agree, don't need the dealership to fix, only took a few minutes to clean myself.
