Default Way below average in reliability?

I was at a book store this afternoon and picked up a recent copy of consumer reports. They rate the four door wrangler way below average in reliability but the two door got much better than average reliability rating.
Does that make sense to anybody? WTF?

That's a first, generally the Wrangler is always rated with a black ball in that consumer rag.

There are some differences, more of everything means more to break. More weight to pull and stop and more fixtures to leak.

One unscientific explanation might be that a lion's share of the four doors are used as family cars and grocery getters by yuppies. They love to fill out forms and CU sends out long a$$ survey forms or you can do them on line. Bet they send in all of them and define every little Jeep thing as an issue.

On the other hand, some dude catching babes in his two door would probably give it top ratings just for chick magnetism.

It makes perfect sense. More soccer moms that actually read Consumer Reports and fill out those surveys own Unlimiteds. Consumer Reports sucks.

I too have heard and read on other ratings and review sites that a large portion of the negative ratings on the JK (2 and 4 door) are due to "yuppies" buying the vehicle with the thought it is going to drive like an Explorer or 4 Runner....when it doesn't they rate them as having a poor ride, loud interior, etc. which brings the ratings down.

Not sure how much truth to it - but I have seen that more than once.

Just how reliable is a, say, Toyota Corolla if you took it where you take your JK????

If the JK is used as a mall crawler or soccer mom transport vehicle, then maybe it's a little on the quirky side. However, what other vehicle out there comes close to what the JK can (and should) do for the same $$$???

I let my Consumer Reports subscription expire because more often than not their "unbiased" opinions seemed rather biased. CU: Japan = good, US = bad.

They tend to have a political agenda.
