I mainly use Mothers on everything. Even chrome or aluminum cause Mothers makes polishes or waxes for every application.
I just used some stuff from Mequoir (I know I probably misspelled it wasn't sure the correct spelling) on the semi truck, well about half the semi truck then I switched to something else I found at Walmart cause it was 20 degrees so the paste was hardening up where I wasn't able to use it.

On my next waxing I plan to use Turtle Wax Ice. I heard it does really good with the black plastic too.
If you're flares are starting to fade, Mother's back to black did wonders on my TJ for about 9 years but it started to not work here and there in the end(RIP). The recent trend has been using a tyre shine on them.

I've had cars in the past with black plastic parts that look horrible if you get wax on them and it dries because it is really hard to get off if the plastic has any texture (like the jeep flares and bumper do). Do all of these waxes get along with the black plastic parts or do you have to be real careful not to get on them? I just got the jeep and haven't waxed yet.

me too, in fact i have the gold class too before they made the NXT i did a test the NXT is great.
I would buy 3 different "cleaner" waxs
3M makes a very good harsh scratch remover
then meguires makes a 3 stage cleanup- with he 3m its a 4 stage, it works very well after you claybar you will notice there are still scratches, the bar just takes off the road grime and industrial chemicals
