water leak
#61
My 2013 hard top or door is leaking somewhere and my driver carpet gets soaked when it rains. I reached under the carpet to feel puddles of water but I'm not sure where the leak is. Neither the door dash or steering column show any signs of moisture. Has anyone had this issue?

'08 JK Sahara - I have leaks causing moisture damages to the passenger floor and subwoofer bracket also. Just ordered the Dow Corning on Amazon. I'll keep everyone posted as soon as it is applied and tested.

Odd, I just took the metal bracket out of my '09, sanded it and shot it will some bedliner, along with the tie down loop, as both of them had some pretty good rust going, the carpet surrounding it never seemed to be wet, but honestly, my checking was pretty random.

I'm having this same issue...
Did you ever identify any part numbers for this repair?
Finally, PROBLEM SOLVED! I've had my leak examined at the dealers body shop three times before, they have replaced every gasket along the rear hardtop/tailgate, but with no luck. Look closely at the seal on the rear glass and at the edges, Chrysler uses a foam (which acts like a SPONGE) to fill the gaps at the ends of the seal. When/if those foam sponges get wet, they wick water down the tailgate edges and on to the subwoofer, then eventually to the floor where the jack is stored.
My dealer acknowledged the junk Chrysler used and the flaw by design. If the planets arn't in perfect alignment, and if it rains long and hard enough, those sponges will get wet to the point of saturation, then leak. The fix? Total replacement with a superior product. My dealer ordered replacement gasket material from a different supplier and made his own tailgate glass seal. The results are PERFECTION! With flooding all around New England, my JK was bone dry in three days of constant rain.
I don't have part numbers for you, but I can encourage everyone to push till the problem is fixed. I'm keeping the JK for life, so I can't have unnecessary rust caused by dumb leaks. There is a solution, even if it isn't by Chrysler design!
Best of luck everyone,
Nathan
