Default water leak

Anyone else experiencing a water leak on the passenger rear corner (right where the sub woofer installs)? I can't seem to find where it's coming from. The tailgate seals all look good

I have this too, the subbox bracket mount to the floor is all rusted up too.

This cannot be good.

I took it to the dealer and they replaced the rear tailgate seals. They tested the new gaskets/seals for a couple hours and called it good. About a week later it started to leak again. I've been told that it's super important to keep the seals clean, but it doesn't seem to help. Back to the dealer I go

Is it possible you are washing with too high of water pressure?

There are gaps in the window/tailgate that will let water in if washed with pressure (car wash, pressure washer, hose too close.)

Take it easy with the hose. Every single Jeep will leak under high pressure at that location. It's part of having a soft top.

That is an unusual leak location under normal circumstances.

My hardtop leaks just sitting in rain, but definitly during washing.

This is not my first JK, and the other one did not leak like this, even in direct pressure wash.

Mine seems to be isolated to the passenger side, rear window.

I can usually see where water has dripped onto the sub box and ran down the side to the carpet below,....due to the rust it must have been like this from day one.

I will try to get the seals replaced, but the dealer I go to seems to just squirt clear silicone everywhere instead of doing it right which pisses me off.

my leaks are on a hard top, not a soft top. It leaks while parked in the rain. I understand the potential for leaks with a power washer, or even a steady garden hose (although a hard top seal should be able to stop those leaks as well). I'm complaining because I get the leak any time it rains. Some day rust will develop and I'll be kicking my self for not fixing the problem first. I have yet to see where it is leaking. It may be time to get the hose out and see for my self. Too bad the hose is packed away for the winter!
Anyone else with this water leak problem at the passenger side rear?

The hard top also has the gaps I was speaking of. (bottom corners of the glass/tailgate) There are flexible pieces of rubber that sort of cover them but it really only prevents rain falling with gravity. It could leak in an extreme wind blown rain situation.

If your Jeep leaks every time it rains something is wrong.

You don't have to justify the dangers of leaks to me. I know all about them unfortunately.

I've never had a leak, but I do see a potential spot in the area you are talking about.
When the tailgate is open and the rear glass lifts up, the rubber seal at the bottom of the glass may catch on the passenger side corner of the tailgate, tearing it slightly just a few inches in from the right edge.

i just checked mine, and on the seal at the top right of the window there is a slight crease..there is a TINY bit of rust on only the edges of the piece of metal that bolts down the subwoofer, but this is probably from opening the rear when its pooring out or snowing and water sitting after..but i CAN see how there could be leaks back there.

how much rust? mine is just the edges, and that could just be from water and moisture getting in when the tailgate is open...even the brackets for my front driver's seat have a tiny bit from wet shoes, wet pants etc. when it snows a lot i can't help it.
