Default Under Hood Smoke

Driving around today and noticed lots of smoke from under the hood. Have not had a chance to look yet but did not notice a rad fluid smell. Was wondering if anyone else has had this. Could it be water/ice kicking up from the road?

Will investigate after work today!

Haven't had that experience (I am a newbie) but it sounds like a good ole antifreeze leak. Did your gauge move towards hot?

Check for the obvious - hoses, rad, thermostat housing before getting on the road again. Last thing you want to do is crack your heads

Temp gauge never higher than right in the middle.

Thought it might have been a little humidity from the garage over-night, but lots of smoke this mornign after being parked outside for 4 hours!!

How cold is it where you are? I notice that I get a bit of steam from the engine compartment when it gets closer to zero F, kinda like being able to see your breath, or when the storm sewer grates steam.

It freaked me out the first time, but after careful investigation, I'm pretty convinced that it's just the moisture being released into the cold air from the warm engine compartment.

I agree.. I notice this parked after driving in the rain.
Probably just cold rain on the hot radiator, and since our grill is so large, it lets in lots of rain...
Freaked me out at first too.....

its a Jeep thing.

my WJ did it, my YJ did it, my parents WK does it and my JK does it..

It just looks like some steam coming from the radiator when stopped at a light in the rain. I wouldnt be concerned, unless thats not what your talking about

Today its -10 c or 23 f. Ive noticed a few little wisps (sp??) before but never like this.

Hoping its the moisture thing - was pretty slushy when I was doing my errands.

Funny that you mention that your/family WJ, YJ and WK does it. Never saw this on my TJ.
