TSB - Flash: Torque Converter Shudder Or 1-2, 2-3 or 3-4 Upshift Bumps
I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler I bought new back in Feb of 08. I know this TSB is for a 2007 Wrangler, however, the systems that were experienced for this problem are the exact ones I'm experiencing. Could it be that it applies to my Jeep as well? Also, how do I find out what transmission my Jeep has? If anyone has had similar problems with their 2008 or any input I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

The dealer won't perform the TSB on yours if it applies to 2007 only. They are funny that way.
Take it in, show them the symptoms, and see what they say.

I took it into the dealer and they couldn't duplicate the problem. Eventhough I told them I was only feeling the shudder when I was driving the Jeep for awhile. (I use it on a mail route) I have 36,242 mi on it. I just had them flush the tranny the day before. They recommened I do it every 15,000 because of the driving I do. Is that a little excessive?

Muddslingin44, when it get up around 40mph, it doesn't take long it just feels like i'm going over a speed bump. And the weird thing is, it only does it when i'm on my route for awhile.

I would say a fluid and filter change is enough, though, providing the fluid is always bright red and doesn't smell burnt. I'll bet a flush is a lot more expensive. People have had bad luck with flushes.
Now that you have driven it since the flush, warm it up and check the fluid level. They may have been in a hurry when they filled it.

mine does it all the time,i feel like 3rd gear consists of 2 gears.i takes a long time to fully go into 3rd gear.when it goes to 3rd, it feels like it is struggling to go.its not a solid shift like 1st or 2nd gear.they shift like they are suppose to

I have had the shutter for a while now. Shifting from 2nd to 3rd at 30 mph makes it the worst. Unfortunately, that is the speed I hover around in traffic around here.
I had asked about fixing it on the forum and it appears that after multiple tries, many dealers did not solve the problem for members.
Because I am out of warranty, I will just live with it. I have found if I am hovering around 30 mph, I will shift it into 2nd Drive and keep it in second until I get up to, and will stay above, 35 mph. Once I get to 35 mph I shift back into Drive and this prevents the shutter.
