Mine is doing this exact same thing. Just came back from the dealer yesterday. They said no problem found. I will bring it back and take the tech for a ride myself....

Hmmm........
Common problem likely caused by driveline bind in reverse. Some JK's do it worse than others. Usually occurs at slow speeds on inclines - what you're feeling is the driveshaft joints "sticking". Magnified by lifts (increases the angle) and larger tires (increases the amount of torque needed to move). As you gain speed and the shaft joints start moving freely the shudder decreases - probably why your regear cured it since your driveshaft now spins at a faster rate.

My '08 doesn't need a hill or trailer to shudder in reverse; does it on my flat garage floor while backing-in. Slight turn of wheel either direction makes it worse. "Could not duplicate...." garbage response from dealer. And I'm full stock. No mods.

Default Official Jeep Answer...

LOL!! ok so get this... Jeep is "officialy" calling this "WHEEL HOP"!!!

That is just to Funny!! When I asked them why the manual does not do it he just said "I dont know?"

If your Jeep has a "wheel hop" problem... Make them fix it! I am not done with them yet...
