So you don't have a bushing anymore? Just the washer and clip? Wouldn't that make the shifter super loose?

Havn't had it off-road since I fixed it but it feels the same as before (shifting from 2hi to 4hi to neutral to 2lo and back). All testing was done in the garage.

No bushing? Just washer and clip?

Put a couple tie-wraps on there and call it a day.

I did that on the transfer case side. I'm in the process of working on the console side. I've already pulled it apart, but the flange bearing I bought to cut and replace the plastic bushing was to small. I'll find a fix for us 07's....

Mine broke twice on my 07, once on each end.

I used a drill to lose the bushings and sawed off skateboard truck bolts to link it together. Worked like a charm, except my computer wouldn't recognize the shift points. I had that little yellow 4WD indicator on for a bit.

The new cable and shifter fixed all that though, no light in the dash, and a bulletproof shifter.

Hooking it up on the console side was a bitch though, just getting the console out is ridiculous.

Default cheap part disabling a vehicle?

If you think about it ( and you probably shouldn't) just think how much we depend on a 79 cent Schraeder valve in the valve stem, now that's trusting.

I drilled out the black linkage eye to 1/2" with a step bit. Used a 1/2" screw cap and cut the tip off (used as a new bushing). Then used a cotter pin to hold everything together. There is a groove on the nipple that accepted it perfectly.
