I was told by my dealer that it did not need to be flashed because Ialready had the tow package and that the flash was only to activate the tow feature ( whatever that is ) but my 7 pin worked no problem, and i did not unplug the 4 pin so now iI have both available...

So did you just plug the harness for the 7 pin into the 4 pin harness tap at the brake light? I thought about doing this, but now have bought an adapter for my 7 pin connection to get back to 4 for my baby trailer. Looks like I could have had it both ways for free.

I sure would like to know how you guys with stock 4 pin flat trailer connectors are using 7 pin connectors. If you are just plugging a 7 pin adapter into the 4 pin plug you do not have full function of any additional pins which would include a brake wire and I think a power wire for charging for a total of 6 live pins in a 7 pin harness. I need to wire mine for 7 pin - it came with a 4. I am thinking I need to put an entirely new additional harness in that runs from the front battery to the rear of the jeep so in the end I will have two harnesses. Only really need the 7 pin which can double as a 4 with an adapter but a 4 cannot double as a true 7 pin without the addition of the brake line and power. Maybe I am wrong???

I did not have the tow package. Everything is after market stuff.

The wiring harnes is Mopar brand.

Still very curious that even with adding the fuses that were not included with the non tow package I still have not running lights.

I just bought the Mopar 7 pin harness which does run the full length of the jeep. Includes the blue wire for the tow brake under the dash. Have not installed it yet but I will need to pull the factory 4 pin flat connector harness. With the 7 pin I can use it for both a 4 way or a 7 way. I will let you know if it needs to be flashed after I get it installed and test it with a hand meter.

I look forward to your results.

I have tested my conector. I get currnt for the turns, brakes, back-up, but nothing for the running lights when the jeep headlights are on. Strange.

Issue solved... When my dealer installed the harnes he added a fuse to be safe. Guess what it was blown. everything works as it should now. I feel like a tool... a lowsy fuse.
