Trac-Lok or not?
Well, since it now looks like I'll be "re-ordering" a 2008, I've had too much time to think about how I might want to change my order
The way my 2007 order was set up was for 6 speed, 4:10 rear and trac-loc. It will spend most of the time on the street with some light to moderate off roading once or twice a year. We do have snowy and icy winters here in NY
Now I am not so sure if I want/need the trac-loc and I would love to hear various opinions on the topic. May 2007 JP magazine article (page 28) does not have much good to say about the trac-lok off saying it is largely unnoticeable on AND off road plus it sounds like it could eventually wear out (clutch disks) and has a weaker case.
I'd like to hear what anyone has to say about this.

I personllay don't see the point of paying for a limited slip when the brake lock differential feature associated with the traction control is standard on all JKs. I would definately have purchased the electric locker option if it had been available when I got mine. Good luck with your decision.

i drove to the ski resorts all season and no trac loc.
if you do light off roading pretty worthless as the traction control does a better job on road in the snow and rain than trac loc.more intense offroading get the locking rear diff.
