Towing a Travel Trailer w/ 2011 JKU w/ towing package
#41
Did you pick up your camper? I bought the same trailer last thursday. I like it a lot. The only problem so far is the ac. It did not seem to keep up. We got the wall unit, 8000 btus. should have found one with the 13500 rooftop.

I pull a pop up behind my 2010 2 door jk. I moved the battery from the tongue of the trailer to the rear of the trailer to get my tongue weight back down to 190#. The trailer when I bought it said dry weight was 1850. Add in air and propane and it still was below the 2000# limit of my 2 door so I was happy. I also have electric trailer brakes and controller in my JK. I also added the tranny cooler. I had a little trailer sway issue at 70 mph with it when I met or passed semi's so I added the sway bar on the tongue which fixed that. I have pulled it from Louisiana, where I live, to Colorado several times without a problem. That is with all the gear in the JK. Now climbing some of the mountain passes was a chore, but handling is great. The wife even drove part of the way without a problem and has pulled it out for weekender's while I rode the Harley. We avarage 14-15 mpg while towing it too.
We have done this for two years without a problem. Two months ago I got a notice from my trailer manufacturer that said my trailer was missed labeled from the factory and please apply these new labels to my trailer. The new labels changed my dry weight to 2350#. I took it to the local truck stop and weighed it and it actually came in at 2400# while the JK loaded up for a trip came in at 4400#. I have no problems with my current setup and figure that Jeep probably errors on the side of caution.
As far as legalities go, Your insurance company would still be on the hook in an accident regardless and the most they could do is cancel your policy. I will be using my current setup for at least two more years.
Hope this helps out.
