Default Towing Question

I have a stock 08 JKU X 4 door 6 speed manual and am wondering if I can tow my wife's car(2008 Pontiac G6)? Looking to tow from IL to CA. Anyone have any experience towing other vehicles with their Jeeps??

Pulling it you should be ok, it's stopping that becomes the factor. Are you using an actual trailer or one of those U-haul car trailer that just under the front wheels?

What's your axle ratio?
How much does the car to be towed weigh?

No and not with any trailer previously suggested.

The curb weight of the G6 is 3300#. Assume you have a tow rating of 3500# on your Jeep (best case scenario).

A full trailer will weigh 1500#; dolly will weigh 200#.

The tow rating includes the trailer, driver, cargo, etc. The car alone hits the tow rating before you ever sit in the Jeep.

Don't do it - you'll kill yourself or some innocent family trying to save a few bucks by towing with an under-rated vehicle. Hire a transport service; have a buddy tow with a moving truck; have your buddy/wife drive it.

Towing safely and legally is NOT an option from anywhere to CA.

I would say in the end its up to you. I have towed WAAYYY more weight than I should have with my 2 door....(Look at my pics under my profile) I would suggest using a dolly vice a trailer if you do since you would be essentially be pulling the car using its own wheels and momentum, vise transferring all of that weight and momentum to a trailer plus the weight of a G6.
