Well, guys, here one of the first Google searches for "Jeep JK haul" in Germany: h ttp://www.vierkantoffroad.de/product_info.php/anhaengerkupplung-anhaengelastauflastung-2000-3500kg-fuer-alle-jeep-wrangler-jk-07-p-1863

Remove the space between the h and t

My hitch is rated for 3330kg, because it can be removed. I can upload a picture of my official papers for the jeep.

The trailer is needed to have brakes, of course. Don't know if that's needed in the states.

Transmission is a 545rfe, known for its strength towing (Rams, Hemis)
the newer JKs with the merchant box are rated at only 1000kgs due emissions here in Europe, but it's possible to get then higher rated. But I haven't driven a newer one with a trailer.
Holy Shitballs, 3500 kg? thats 7700 lb US, I wonder if the brainiacs at the Jeep factory in US made a mistake and figured that kg and lb were the same and nobody caught the mistake. Thanks for your comments, your 1.5 ton (metric) is about 3300 lb US, so its comparable and close to our towing limits here in the US. How is the fuel consumption when you tow?

I would be very interested to see what your hitch looks like. On my 2012, that looks like the weak point. I would love a heavier duty hitch, but not sure one is made for the 2012 and newer. My German is not too good. Is that official Jeep information in your link, or someone else saying what the jeep rating is? Also, can you look on the official jeep website in German and see if they list the tow rating for 2014 jku's?

Fuel consumption is a question of wind resistance

Towed a 3meters high trailer, was 2,5meters wide. Really like a parachute for a drag-racer. Was like 18l/100km ~ 13mpg

Fuel consumption with 2,5" Lift, 285 tires 4.10 gears and winch, aev snorkel, bumper and carrier around 11l/100km ~ 21mpg on the highway, in the city: 12,3l/100km ~ 19mpg

The new 2014 JK 4dr and 2dr have a towing capacity of 1000kgs, because of the emissions test, called EURO5.

I can take a picture of the 2008 brochure when I get home tomorrow, hopefully it's not in the trash..

My new 2014 Sahara unlimited 2.8l Diesel with 3.73 ratio is rated for 2000kg (4.409lbs) and 200kg (440lbs) maximum drawbar weight. All two doors model are limited to 1000kg (2.205 lbs). All this is according with the received leaflet updating the data from the owner manual.

That agrees with what I was finding 2 years ago I my search. Can you confirm the rating for the gas powered JKU in your country with the 3.73 or 4.10 rear? Also tongue weight please.

My 07 2 door 2.8 CRD is rated to 2000KG. The 4 door is rated to 3500KG. I've towed well over the rating on a couple of occasions and barely noticed I had a trailer on at all. Mine has the Tunit box, though, that brings the torque to 332lbs.

The paper says that all two doors models petrol and diesel (3.73 and 4.10) are limited to 1000kg (2.205lbs) and tongue weight 100kg (220lbs), for the four doors are applicable the ones stated before (2000 kg and tongue 200 kg).

Cheers,

Daniel
