Default Tow rating

Should I pull a 3000# camper with a two door? I know that its over the rating but I don't think it would be to much. Would like some opinions. I also thought about putting trailer brakes on the JK.

I would say no.
You would be fine until something goes wrong. Then the lawyers would rip you up.

A Tear Drop camper. There are some very nice pop-up's out there that a 2 door JK will have no problems pulling, and yes trailer brakes are a good idea. Good luck

The problem with the 2 door is the length of it. It makes it prone to fishtailing. That is why the tow rating is lower. So, it will probably pull the trailer ok but it will be dangerous because it could fish tail easily.

I would not do it. I'be pulled more with my TJ but it was just down the street to get my boat to the gas station. The short wheelbase is a big problem, so is stopping. I have electric over hydraulic brakes so I can stop on a dime but it's still way too much weight for the vehicle. If it were 4 door with same tow rating I would feel a little better with the longer wheelbase and extra weight in the Jeep.
