Default Torque Wrench

Going to buy a torque wrench , not sure if i should get a 1/2in. or 3/8in drive? I would be used mostly for tire rotations. Need some advice, can only afford one at the moment. Gi

1/2" is typically used for wheels, or big nuts and/or bolts.
3/8" is typically for engine work

you can get conversions for either, just make sure you get one in FT/lbs

i made a mistake and didnt bother looking so mine is in inch/lbs, i gotta do math for everything because your manual doesnt list anything in inch/lbs they only put measurements in ft/lbs.

By the way if it is for your wheels, hand tight is more than 100ft/lbs or 115ft/lbs which is typical for a jeep, I am not sure the exact for a Jk but i am sure the 4 door is around 120ft/lbs, not much.

(hand tight for a male)

I am stronger than most women because I have been doing this since I was 15, so when my sisters go to tighten their lug nuts they have to jump on the 4 way, where as I can use my hands.

1/2 is what I use. Normal is 100ft/pd on most cars. Trucks (at least most ford trucks) is 150ft/pd.

I'm curiious about this as well... So would the 1/2 inch be a good all around size for torquinng the suspension components such as the track bar bolts, control arms, etc...?

I use 1/2 " for lugs and most of the suspension.

Talk you out of it? I recommend getting both.

Yeah I'm a weekend wrencher who loves doing easy suspension mods but wont be touching my engine or tranny till this isn't a DD. The 1/2 covers my needs and is easier to get those high torque bolts to spec than my shorter 3/8.

I agree about getting both, but think I will get the 1/2 in. first...
