Default Tires 33's on 18" wheels

Does anybody know if 33's on the factory 18" wheels will fit without a lift kit? it looks like they might.

A 33x10.50 will fit. A 33x12.50 will likely rub.

Browse the Wheels/Tires section in the FAQ when you get a chance, lots of good info there:

Yes 33 x12.5R18's will fit on the factory wheels....however you will need 1 to 1.5" spacer to pull that rim out away from the suspension as you will rub with a wider tire. Also, get prepared for sticker shocker for 18" M/T tires like the Toyo M/T or Nitto mudgrappler.

Do a comparison & shop around as you maybe able to pick up a set of 5 - 16 or 17" rims with proper backspacing and 33x12.50 M/T for less than what you will pay for 5 - 33x12.50R18 tires.

Installed Goodyear MT/R 275/70 R18 with Kevlar last week with no lift needed on my 2009 JK Sahara. These tires are 33.6 diameter, and they add 4.5 inches in circumference over what the 255/70 R18 Bridgestone Dueler ATs measured.

4.5 inches does not seem to be much, but you can feel the effect of the gear ratio change. One very positive note about the tire upgrade is the JK feels much more stable on the road.

triplejeep's hit it on the nose man!...u need spacers to run 12.50's on the stockies...and the price of 18" mudders...yikes...i got a steal on my toyo's so i can't complain...if i had to do it again, i'd go 16...replacement cost is far more resonable...

Here is a calculator to check the gear ratio change, depending on the size of the new tires you decide on. The bigger the tires, the more power loss...

Yeah, the magic numbers are 15, 16, or 17 for wheel diameter. I used to have 18s with my LT295 Toyo M/Ts and they got scratched up naaaaasty... Now I have 17s and no problems so far
