Tire upgrade stock jk

I like sticking to stock also, My jeep is my daily driver too but I hated the stock highway tires it came with (Goodyear Wrangler SR-A). I had the GY Silent Armors on my TJ and loved them, but decided to try the Firestone Destination A/Ts on my JK(255/75R17), they are rated #1 on Tirerack and they were about 70.00 cheaper then the SA. I wanted the ATs cause of the snow and driving across open prairie to photograph abandon buildings in rural North Dakota.

The first two or three times I went off road with the local 4x4 club to a local 300+ acre off-road park, I had my bone stock 2012 Jk with the only mod being the AEV Protek skid plate system, and I did great keeping up with very modified Jeeps on a lot of steep, rocky and some scary trails!
a whole lot of this is just about going slow and earning how to pick the best track, you can learn about this if you are following someone who is driving that way, or by asking for someone to guide you through parts of the trail.
by far, one of the best guys in the club has an older TJ with just a small lift, or possibly just a budget boost and 32" tires, but I've seen him take on some steep rocky and very technical trails!
and I know at the Jeep Jamboree he went on the higher rated trails and came back with no damage and no problems keeping up.
he's been nice enough to give advice so I can keep it to a slow crawl and go smooth through the technical stuff, even though I went with the big tires, so I don't go trying to power through stuff the way I always used to when I had the smaller tires and no lockers.
