Default tire rotation question

So i'm getting ready to do my first tire rotation this weekend and when i added my leveling spacers to the front of the jk i noticed a little clip type device on the bolt that the lugs tighten to. Is this clip necessary or can i just simply pull it off. Seems like there is only 1 on each of the 5 lugs?

I believe you are talking about the little silver retaining clip that is slid over one of the studs on your knuckle. The only time it needs to be removed is when/if you install a set of wheel spacers.

...and when using aftermarket wheels that don't have clearance for the clips.

Or when you pull the rotor for any reason. It is useful on the factory assembly line; serves no other real purpose.

Remove it. All it is there for is to hold the rotor in place as the vehicle rolls along the assembly line
