Well, when I deflated my spare, the sensor was still there; got no warning in the days I drove around.

What the tire needs for air will have no effect on the system. The system is programmed to warn the driver when the pressure drops below a set point.

People who have certain programmers can adjust the set point, all the way down to zero, if they want.

Like a super chip programmer? Or something similar?

I think so. Not sure of the brands that have that feature.

I think what's happening with people who have their pressure sensor being set off by the spare is a failure to update the location of the tires when they are rotated. When the dealer changes your oil they have to clear the reminder light for oil. I believe they may have to update the position of the tires as well

Not the case. I rotate the tires regularly. Position isn't monitored. It's all about which ones are rotating. The spare, not rotating goes into sleep mode. (On the '08s, anyway.)

From my 08 manual. If you have a full size spare, it has a sensor.

I don't think anyone doubted the spare has a sensor, but that quote indicates the spare is not monitored.

Mine came on friday as we finally dipped below triple digit temps for the first time in about 2 months. Aired up all tires (including spare) to 35psi and the light stayed on no matter how far I drove it. Found another thread where someone aired them up while idling until the light went off. So this is what I did. Started with one tire airing each of them up to 40psi until the light went off, then i let them back down to 35psi. Lights been off for 2 days now. My front right was the culprit.

hmm - checking my door jam for recommended pressure - 37psi, falls below that and sensor trips
