Default Tint Percentage

Anyone know how dark the stock tints are on the back windows and hardtop of the sport package/Sahara? I'm looking at getting my front two windows tinted and don't want it to look awkward/darker than the other windows. Thanks.

20% is pretty darn close (allows 20% light through).
Most tint places have some different brands to choose from that might have slightly different colors to them, so you'll have to compare them to the hardtop glass to get the closest.
Open the rear glass so you can look at the sky through it and through the samples at the same time.

When I got mine done, I picked the closest they had... the colors between front and rear are slightly different when you are inside looking out, but from outside the Jeep it's almost a perfect match.

I went with 15% tint on the front and it matches perfect, I was told by one shop that 20% is what mopar is using, but 20% is to lite.

I got a qoute for the same two windows. They said 35% to match the factory tint.

Most states have laws against the front windows being too dark. I know in NM, you will get a citation for anything darker than 20%. I think CA is like 35% for any window (not sure though).

i have 15% on mine. matches perfectly. the 20% would be to light due to the fact that factory tint is applied by dipping the glass.. so to match the dip tint level u need to use a 15% film.

Technically Jeep uses 18%. However, and this is the trick, you can never match it perfectly because the window is not tinted in the same way that we have our windows tinted. The glass is made that way, that smoked color, no tint. I got 20% I think and I'd rate it about 8/10. The factory glass is awesome.

We did 20% on both of our JK's and it appears to be a spot on match. Buddy of ours did 15% and he mentions that at night he sometimes has issues with visibility. Not sure the 5% makes all that differance though.

I'm using an 18% tint on the front two windows and its dead on. The front will always appear lighter however due to the windshield letting sunlight in.

100% correct...
also interior color plays into the light transmitted through glass.
