Default tie rod sleeve adjustment tips?

Playing around with my jeep today and notice my tires have a major TOE OUT. I figured I can adjust the tires myself for a TOE IN. So I sprayed the tie rod adjustment sleeve down with pb blaster. I waited 20 minutes. Put my vice grips around it.. No budge. Put long pipe around wrench still didnt move at all. I took my hand held map torch to it. I didnt get it red hot but hot enough. Tried it again.. I ended up breaking my vice grips Wtf that thing is tight?? I guess Ill try next weekend

My options:

-keep trying with torch?
-buy better vice grips?
-remove the hole tie rod and try adjusting it?
-remove and toss the stock rod and buy a better one?

thanx

Easy fix, I'm an alignment tect. They make like a double crows foot that grabs the slot and spreads a rotates an in one motion. Or back yard fix pry bar in the open slot this will spread it break surface tension and give you better leverage, vise grips tend to force the sleeve into the tie rods jammin it all up

are you talking about the open slot on the adjustment sleeve?

I think I'd worry more about how you ended up with that much toe out that you can see it with the naked eye. Get that problem fixed and then take it to an alignment shop to get the toe set correctly. In a pinch, you can get it set close via driveway measurements, but only a shop can get it dead on. For the little bit that a simple toe adjustment is going to cost versus ruining your tires, why take the chance?

Looks can be deceiving with the front axle and tire alignment. Did you use a tape measure to see if it's as bad as it looks?

no not yet. It seemed fine when I had 29 inch tires. But my 33's seem to pronounce it more maybe. Gonna look at it again tomorrow. Either when something is off.

I agree! When properly aligned, the front tires can sometimes appear as if they are in toe-out. If you notice accelerated tire wear, I'd measure the toe and then make minor adjustments. BUT it does sound like you'll soon have to replace your tie rod (centerlink). It should not be that difficult to release.

Use a tape measure to check. If you eyeball it to set some toe in chances are it will be way too much. You want about an 1/8" difference.
