How long do you wait before changing filter & oil?

Same as normal oil, synthetic doesn't last longer both are good for 6K miles and need a oil filter change.

Synthetic doesn't break down till a much higher temperature then conventional oils and it also will not get nearly as thick in the cold, minimizing the damage and all engines suffer on cold start till engine is up to ideal operational temperature.

you need to do more research.. dino oil when actually tested lasts between 6k and 8k under normal conditions.. (that is why the recommended oil change interval on the JK is 6k even with dino oil)

Full synthetics (at least the good ones, Amsoil, Mobil 1, Syntec, ect) when actually tested last 12k to 15k under normal conditions.

even though no US auto manual has a different oil change interval for synth, there are foreign countries that do. US is too litigation happy for the manufacturers to take that chance.

I have been doing 10k, or one year, which ever comes first, with good synth on all my autos for many years. Never had a problem.

I change the synthetic oil & filter at 5 to 6K, but there is a lot of evidence to just do a filter change at every 5k, and top it off with fresh synthetic.
This results in minimum wear, as the vast majority of wear seems occurrs in the first 3k miles after a synthetic oil change, after that wear decreases to almost zero (untill the oil breaks down).

So when do you change all the synthetic oil, leave that up to oil analysis, or just don't ever change it all!

Me, I'm a 5k man myself.
