Things to know about soft top?

To make sure that I have all the screws, can someone tell me how many of each "kind" I should have? I have two packages of brand new screws, I think there is four in one package, and six in the other.....and then I have 2 hand type screw things (same concept as the beer can screws for the freedom tops). A list of how many screws that I should need would be greatly appreciated

I don't know what screws you are refering to. Search the internet for a manual based on your year, manufacuter and style of top. Here is one for a mopar unlimited :

Soft top
Well, i'm about to put my soft top on this weekend for the first time and have a few questions. I've seen a thread in the past about people screwing up while putting the top down, and it dents the back gate somehow when closed? I saw a jeep with dents on either side of the rear gate and it reminded me to ask. Can people show me pics of what causes this, and what I need to do to prevent it? Also, what other tips/tricks do you guys recommend? Thanks in advance!

The welds holding the bar that crosses in the middle of the roof broke after 4 years. I just cut the straps from it and threw it in the garage. Oddly enough, my roof/window hasn't leaked since this happened.

I've never removed my soft top completely. That seems like a lot of hassle to me, plus I like having it back there if the weather turns bad.
Plus, in the 2dr, the folded top provides a nice "secure" trunk behind the back seat. Someone would have to dig through 6 layers of canvas to even see if you had anything back there (or fold the top back up, but really who would think to do that).
