Are there any oil threads on this site?
I have a 2014 JKU Rubicon and live in a region that in the summer can be in excess of 100 degrees at times, but averages upper 80's to single digits and sometimes below zero in the winter. Am wondering about better oil options. I haven't had the jeep long enough to change it, but it's coming up son. The Jeep dealer I bought it from uses Mobil, but I don't know what weights are used there.
Thanks in advance,
Scott

Haha. Mobil 1 synthetic does NOT carry the Chrysler certification. Conventional Mobil does, not the synthetic. I use penzoil platinum synthetic every 5000 miles, as do many other members of this forum. I'm in NJ. We get to 95 in the summer and 20 in the winter. Absolutely zero issues running 5w-30. Mine is a 2012 so it calls for 5-30. Starting in 2013 they changed the recommendation to 5-20. I think you will be fine with either. I am a big believer in synthetics. I saw first hand how much it improved consumption and darkening in my generator after Hurricane Sandy. Made me a believer for life.

I run Royal Purple, but asking about better, or the "best oil", is like asking about tires, or manual or auto, or the best car wax. We all have our opinions, and many of us are pretty strongly opinionated, but they are still just that: opinions.
Just do a little research, figure out what you want to spend, make sure your choice is API approved (99.99% of them are), and go with it.
