My computer has been surprisingly close. I just filled up and calculated about 15.8 and the computer said 16.4. That was all city, short distance travel. The time I calculated before that was after allot of highway driving up to Chattahooche National Forest and I calculated 19.5 and the computer said 21.2. (Give or take a tenth or two based on memory.)

I bought my Rubicon in Idaho and drove it back to Montana on Saturday. I got 19.7 mpg with all 250 miles on the hwy and some in 4wd. This was my first tank.

I can easily average 21mpg, when I go on a trip it will climb as high as 23. May have changed since the snow came though. I like to leave it on temp display now so I can look at it in horror every single morning.

Back to the thread.

My overall avg is 17.5 MPG.

To get instant mpg readings you need to zero it out. The computer gives you an avg reading which is why some tank fillings/miles might make you think the computer is giving erroneous readings.

Overall average is 12.2 lt/100km (19.2 mpg) on Diesel for me. This includes city driving and offroading to get to hunting places...

Because I'm a rotten evil mean wife - I regularly steal Steve's Jeep for my work related travel. Way way more fun to drive than the ford crewcab diesel!

With the 07 two-door X, six speed transmission and 3.21 gears I got an honest 24-25 on the highway. Probably would have gone up a little after break-in. Had the factory "highway" type tires on the aluminum 16" wheels.

The 08 4-door has only had one highway trip on it. I picked it up from the dealership, drove to my husband's workplace so he could see his new Jeep and then left for a week

At any rate, the 08 with 3.73 gears only got 20 on the highway. This is with the factory highway type tires on the 17" wheels. We just swapped to the more aggressive rubicon tires. Have to see what difference that makes.

Summary:
07 2 door, 6-speed, 3.21 = 16/25
08 4 door, auto, 3.73 = 15/20
